Aircraft Management Technologies (AMT) and Fujitsu have today announced a long-term global strategic alliance for developing and marketing solutions for airline operations. Dublin-based AMT is an aviation industry solutions provider, which develops information system technology to automate and streamline operations within the aviation industry.
As part of the partnership AMT will also jointly market Fujitsu Personal Systems tablets and PC’s into the aviation sector. Both companies will work together on a joint marketing campaign. The new partnership has already recognised a number of potential opportunities which would result in considerable savings for the airline industry.
Commenting on the new strategic alliance Mr. Bernard Hensey, Chief Executive of AMT said “This partnership represents a huge vote of confidence for AMT. With the assistance and backing of one of the worlds leading providers of Internet-focused information technology solutions AMT is in an ideal position to assist in automating and streamlining operations within the aviation industry.”
He added “We believe that in the current international climate it is imperative that airlines cut costs without compromising passenger safety. Our strategic alliance with Fujitsu represents a real opportunity for airlines to increase the speed and reliability of information transfer thus improving aircraft utilisation and quality compliance and increasing cost savings and aircraft reliability.”
According to Nigel Owens, Fujitsu, Managing Director, Northern Europe, "At Fujitsu Personal Systems we are always looking to partner with industry and market leaders. In AMT we see a company with whom we believe we can work and provide solutions to a market that is competitive, security conscious and customer focused. The solution will provide the aviation industry with "up to date" operations information enabling decisions to be made and actions to be taken to streamline many of the time consuming and costly processes currently undertaken manually".
AMT’s eTechlog™ software has already demonstrated huge potential savings when deployed to improve the standard processes of operations and maintenance departments of commercial airlines.
This software solution combined with Fujitsu’s tablet or PC platforms, provides an innovative electronic version of the aircraft operations and technical documentation and is the first product to offer secure, wireless transmission of aircraft technical and operations data via XML technology and portable computing devices. The software allows electronic entry of operations and maintenance information by pilots, cabin crew and ground engineers. This is transmitted to a web-based Aircraft Data Server during the aircraft turnaround cycle. Information on the server is instantly available for simultaneous use by all authorised users within the airline and its’ service vendor base.
The process allows airlines to combine several existing paper-based forms - flight log, defect log and voyage report - and will eliminate wasteful duplication of effort.
