Savings to airlines from eTechlog™

Aircraft Management Technologies (AMT) has just launched eTechlog™, a groundbreaking product that dramatically improves airline operations. eTechlog™ is an innovative electronic version of the aircraft technical log. It is the first product to offer secure, wireless transmission of aircraft technical and operations data via XML technology and portable computing devices. Irish-based AMT is a recently established aviation industry solutions provider, which is developing information system technology to automate and streamline operations within the aviation industry. eTechlog™ is the company’s first product.

eTechlog™ allows electronic entry of operations and maintenance information by pilots, cabin crew and ground engineers. This is transmitted to a web-based Aircraft Data Server during the aircraft turnaround cycle. Information on the server will then become instantly available for simultaneous use by all authorized users within the airline and its’ maintenance provider. The process will combine several existing paper-based forms [flight log, defect log and voyage report] and will eliminate wasteful duplication of effort.

The design of eTechlog™ has incorporated open standards and cutting-edge communications technologies and serves to automate existing processes and to promote the integration of systems between airlines, maintenance providers and OEMs. AMT has demonstrated potential savings of $100,000 per aircraft per annum through the deployment of eTechlog™ in operations and maintenance departments of commercial airlines. The savings are due to enhanced resource allocation and improved aircraft and crew utilisation. The product is also designed to seamlessly integrate with Technical Documentation Applications and Performance Calculations on cockpit-based laptops.

AMT’s new product is designed to enable users to capture information in a logical flow, mirroring the aircraft’s operation. This ensures that reliable and consistent data is captured and transferred, which offers benefits through improved clarity and flexibility of data storage and accessibility.

Mr. Bernard Hensey, Chief Executive commented: “We are delighted to launch our first product and believe that the implementation of eTechlog™ presents a real opportunity for airlines to increase the speed and reliability of information transfer and so improve aircraft utilization. The eTechlog™ process offers airlines a great potential for improved quality compliance, cost savings and increased aircraft reliability. The pragmatic application of emerging technologies will continue to significantly improve airline operations and AMT looks forward to offering our full product plan that will allow airlines to manage their assets throughout their operations, hangar and component removal cycles.”
