AMT secures funding for new venture

Aircraft Management Technologies, the Dublin based aviation industry solutions provider, which is developing information system technology to automate and streamline operations within the aviation industry, has secured £1,500,000 in initial funding from Delta Partners, it has been announced today. Under the agreement Delta will take a minority stake in the company.

Aircraft Management Technologies has been co-founded by Bernard Hensey who joined the company as Chief Executive. Mr Hensey was previously Group Vice President, Sales and Marketing for FLS Aerospace and Managing Director of FLS Aerospace in Dublin (formerly TEAM Aer Lingus). His co-founder and Managing Director Mr. Steve Hardgrave, is a former US Navy pilot with over 18 years experience in aviation and aerospace, who was previously Managing Director of Sermatech UK and Vice President/General Manager with Pratt & Whitney in Ireland and the US.

Aircraft Management Technologies provides business process solutions to the aviation industry. They will use open standards and cutting edge communications technology to automate existing processes and promote the integration of systems between airlines, maintenance providers and OEMS.

The company will launch its first product in June 2001 and is working closely with airlines and maintenance organizations on future developments.

Commenting on the new venture and the securing of funding Bernard Hensey of AMT said; “We believe that there are real opportunities in the market for providing IT solutions based on open standards. An independent survey of the top 150 airlines in the world shows that two thirds have not yet adopted new communication technologies within their operations. It is clear that the industry lags behind other sectors in this regard and that the opportunities exist for responsive innovative companies, experienced in the field, to fill this void.

We believe that these solutions can offer significant cost benefits to the industry as a whole. Delta Partners investment in this venture is an indication of confidence in what we are doing and the potential which exists.”

Shay Garvey of Delta Partners said; “This is an exciting business proposition backed up by management who have a significant track record in the aviation industry. The combination of an experienced management team together with a strong business rationale and strategy offers significant opportunities. We believe that this is a relatively unexplored sector and we look forward to growing with AMT in the future”.
