Skybus Airlines opts for AMT’s Flightman™ electronic flight bag software

Skybus Airlines selects AMT’s Flightman™ electronic flight bag software to enable ultra low-costs through improved operational efficiency

Skybus Airlines, the new generation of low-fare airlines, has selected Flightman™ Electronic Flightbag (EFB) software from Aircraft Management Technologies (AMT) to deliver lower operating costs through improved efficiency.  Skybus will implement Flightman™ across its planned fleet of 65 Airbus A319 aircraft to enable a completely paperless operation from the start of revenue service in early spring, 2007.

Flightman™ is a family of software products that enable the synchronization of data between the aircraft and the airline’s various ground systems, and the use of a common data model by various users.  At Skybus, these will include pilots, flight attendants, maintenance engineers, and third party service providers.  Forms and workflow are configured to reflect the needs and working practices of each of these users, and will enable Skybus to begin service as the first truly paperless aircraft operator.  AMT has been working closely with the founders of Skybus for more than two years, and has led a series of business process workshops to help the airline envision the lean and highly efficient operational processes required of a low-fare, low-cost airline.

“As a start-up airline we had the opportunity to select the most sophisticated and powerful systems available today to aid our decision making processes, and that includes not just ground systems but also infrastructure on the aircraft to enable the real-time exchange of information and support for our people at the ‘sharp end’ of our business” said Ken Gile, Skybus Airlines President.  “AMT has successfully demonstrated that Flightman™ will enable us to drive levels of efficiency that are unprecedented in this industry”.

“We are excited to be involved in this project as we believe Skybus will be the first airline to operate an entirely paperless aircraft, and will do so from the first day of revenue service.  Our work with Skybus, as with many other airlines, has demonstrated that the use of the Flightman™ EFB solution will yield significant operational efficiencies that will result in dramatically reduced operating costs.” said Steve Hardgrave, Chief Executive Officer of AMT.
