AMT has announced the availability of the Flightman™ Fuel Performance Analysis, (FPA), module as an extension to the Flightman™ suite of EFB (Electronic Flightbag) software. The Flightman™ FPA module will collect, record and analyse all relevant fuel uplift and usage data in near real time before, during and after a flight segment. The information collected onboard will be available for analysis via the Flightman™ Ground Administrative Manager and will also be available for integration with an airline’s associated ground based applications and Business Intelligence suites.
The Flightman™ EFB system which already includes eJourney Log, Electronic Flight Folder, Weight & Balance, Performance Calculations, eTechlog and Large Content Management, will allow pilots to retrieve pre-flight fuel data and inflight fuel usage data directly from the aircraft systems, and send post-flight data automatically from the aircraft to the airline’s ground systems. Class 1 EFB users will have the option to record the data manually.
The Flightman™ FPA will provide airlines with the ability to collect all relevant fuel usage data by aircraft, crew and sector in a timely and efficient manner. Onboard, the crew will have all relevant up to date information to make decisions regarding fuel uplift. Post flight, this information will be made available to Flight Operations for analysis and will also be passed directly to other applications such as Flight Planning for comparison against budgets.
bmi are the first airline to trial the Flightman™ FPA module. Other airlines are planning to implement the FPA module either as an add on to their existing Flightman™ suite or as a standalone application.
According to Aidan Gallagher, Chairman of AMT, the Flightman™ FPA module will be the first step in a full suite of EFB and ground based solutions to tackle the ever increasing problem of managing fuel costs for airlines. “Fuel costs are a serious issue for all airlines today and even if fuel prices reduce there will be a need for airlines to ensure they have accurate, up to date information on their fuel efficiency”. Flightman™ FPA will provide a sound basis for the analysis of the airline’s fuel efficiency and provide key information for management to assess their performance”. It also provides airlines with accurate performance data to compare actual fuel performance and metrics against those claimed by key suppliers”.
