AMT is pleased to announce the appointments of both Aidan Gallagher and David Smyth to the Management Team.
Aidan Gallagher has been appointed as Executive Chairman. Aidan has over 30 years experience in ICT industry including Sales and Marketing, Product Development, Business Analysis and Project Management. Most recently Aidan was Executive Vice President at Similarity Systems which was sold to Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ:INFA) for $55M in 2006. Aidan was also Executive Vice President at Baltimore Technologies (NASDAQ:BLM) from 1997 to 2002 where he was responsible for growing revenues to over $130M in under four years. Aidan is a member of the boards of eSpatial, the leading Irish based Geospatial development company, and, 1Spatial, the Cambridge UK based Spatial Data Quality group. During his thirty years in the IT industry, Aidan has had significant involvement in the Aviation sector. From 1994 to 1997, Aidan was CEO of Visibility International where he was responsible for the development of the relationship with Team Aer Lingus and the creation of the VisAER system that has been successfully deployed in a number of leading global airlines.
Commenting on his appointment, Aidan said: “I welcome the challenge and opportunity of leading AMT and driving the growth of the company internationally. Our main challenge now is to translate our technology excellence and thought leadership into revenue and market share.”
AMT has also appointed David Smyth as Chief Commercial Officer.David has 15 years of ICT experience in senior finance, operational and commercial roles with entrepreneurial technology and private equity organisations. He was previously Chief Financial Officer of Similarity Systems, where he successfully closed funding, completed a US acquisition and executed a trade sale to Informatica Corporation. David has also held senior roles as Investment Director of Mentor Capital, an innovative Venture Capital firm, and as Finance & Operations Director of Ivron Systems, a videoconferencing software and hardware company where he executed a trade sale to a NASDAQ quoted company.
Joe McGoldrick, CTO, has also now taken on the expanded role of Executive Vice President, Products and Technology.
Commenting on the new appointments and challenges facing the company, Joe said: “The strengthening of this existing management team leaves AMT well positioned to convert our technology leadership into even greater success in the marketplace. We are already witnessing significant momentum in the adoption of Electronic Flightbag technology, and believe that AMT is uniquely positioned to fully exploit this opportunity.
AMT also announced the resignation of Steve Hardgrave as CEO for personal reasons owing to the ill health of a family member. Steve is a co-founder of AMT and worked in the company since it’s formation in 2001, first as Chief Operating Officer and then as Chief Executive Officer. His executive duties will be taken up by Aidan Gallagher.
